UR Tajima danchi UR田島団地 is one of those large, sprawling complexes that helped fuel the steep population growth of metro Tokyo’s post-war population.

Located at さいたま市桜区田島6  (map), this area was entirely farmland and farmhouses in the early 1960s (below, left). By 1974/1978, the area had been developed significantly, included the Tajima danchi.
